Twelve years after moving the world with the documentary *On the Way to School*, Jackson has reached another remarkable milestone: he is now officially admitted to the Bar and the High Court of Kenya. This personal achievement powerfully illustrates the transformative power of education.
In 2013, the world discovered the story of an 11-year-old Kenyan boy whose determination defied all obstacles. Every morning, Jackson walked nearly 20 kilometers through the savanna to reach his school. Scorching heat, dusty trails, wild animals: nothing seemed capable of dampening his thirst for knowledge.
His story, told in the documentary *On the Way to School* by director Pascal Plisson, touched millions of viewers around the world. It also became the starting point for a lasting commitment to the education of the most vulnerable children.
A meeting that changed a life
Moved by his courage and determination, the Sur le chemin de l’école association chose Jackson as the first child to be supported through its school enrollment programs.
Year after year, this support enabled him to continue his studies and build his future. Where many saw a child facing insurmountable difficulties, Jackson already saw an opportunity: the chance to transform his life through education.
Today, that perseverance has been rewarded in the most beautiful way.
A victory for justice and for education
In 2025, Jackson was officially admitted to the Bar and the High Court of Kenya. The boy who once walked miles to reach a classroom has become a legal professional, dedicated to serving justice.
This success goes far beyond the scope of an individual achievement. It demonstrates that sustainable access to education can change not only a child’s destiny, but also that of an entire community.
For the association’s teams who have supported him since the beginning, this recognition represents the culmination of an exemplary journey and a source of immense pride.
When a Beneficiary Becomes a Builder of the Future
Jackson’s story does not end with his professional success.
Driven by a desire to pass on the opportunities he received, he founded the Nossim School in Kenya in 2025.
Every day, this school welcomes 110 children aged 4 to 8, among the youngest in their village. The school also has an educational garden that helps feed the students while imparting essential practical knowledge.
Through this project, Jackson is creating a true virtuous cycle: the child who once ran to school is now the one opening the doors of education to future generations.
A story that inspires far beyond Kenya
Jackson’s journey reminds us of a fundamental truth: education is one of the most powerful tools for fighting inequality and building more just societies.
Behind every child supported lies immense potential. When financial, geographical, or social barriers are removed, this potential can become a force for transformation for entire families, villages, and sometimes even countries.
Twelve years after his first steps in front of the cameras, Jackson now embodies this promise.
His story is that of a child who dreamed of going to school. It has become that of a man who stands up for justice and who now offers other children the chance to dream in turn.
An exceptional success story. A source of immense pride. And above all, a striking demonstration of the power of education.
